Has anybody brought the high screen from Motorworks. It says it's 17" which I presume is the top to bottom measurement. Don't know what make it is

What are your thoughts on this screen. Seems cheap enough at £56.00

Mine is scratched to buggery.

I am 5' 10" and was getting a fair bit of buffeting but not to bad at slower than 70 mph speeds.

Cheers Del

I have a 17" and it works great - but I have Tobinators. If you haven't got those, you may need then as well to get shot of the buffeting (as it says on the ad!).

The standard screen is as crap as most Beemer screens. Why do they insist on putting flips on them? This is what causes the noise (IMHO)

I picked up an Ermax tinted screen off Ebay a few months ago. Its supposed to be abot 100mm taller than standard, but i cut the top 70mm or so off to get rid of the flip. Much better, but still some noise.

I then took a dremel to the mounting holes and elongated them to lower (yes lower) it. It now has a clean profile, that's laid back and keeps the pressure of my chest, yet allows my head to sit in clean undisturbed air, which is nice and quiet. This is with a decent Shoei helmet.

I suppose I'd better state that mine is a standard 1150 GS, no Terbinators(whatever they are), and I'm 5' 10".

I did virtually the same thing a few years back with an R11RS, with much the same results.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for that. I am also 5' 10" which means I am more than a bit interested in your modification. Any chance of some photos.

Photos can be done, but not for a wee while, cos she's back in the dealer at the mo having a brake pad put back in the right way round!!!!! and a new disc. And while they have it its getting an oil leak looked at from the bell housing area. Full strip down, new crank or gearbox oil seal (whichevers leaking) and new clutch hopefully.

All care of the dealer and factory warranty.

Hope to have her back for the weekend, will then take pickie and try to post them. But do I need to be a site sponser to do that? Cos I'm not paid up.

Dude,

Nice to hear from you. Did the trooper make in one go or did you spend some time at Ascension.

Definetly up for a trip away. I am reading loads of reports and sometimes wish this island wasn't so damn small  We are off on our round island trip next week.

Don't you spend to much time in the Cats Cradle or Shadies bar mate.

Is Shadies still going ????

That takes me back

Oh yes. I remember spending much of my FNG night in their. After 24 hrs of traveling and delays from CRAB air it was a bit to much and the last I remember was passing out in a dark corner and waking up the following morning not knowing where the hell I was. :beerjug:

Hi Del
I live in Australia and found the standard screen too hot as well as buffeting. Got a 6" shorter screen made on the same mould and find it much better, less buffeting, less noise, rain slicks from visor much easier, and not as hot. Have also ridden it through our alpine areas without noticeable chill. I am 6'1"
This screen cost about $135 Aust, which is about 60-70 Pounds
