1150GS, Left hand throttle body

What does the cap head screw under the throttle body do? I only ask as I was nosing around the bike and saw this rusty screw. I don't want to undo & replace it with s/s it, to find that something critical falls out. The right hand body doesn't have this screw.

Its for earth wire
