Having tried unsuccessfully to remove the oil filter I am left with a rather mangled filter in the hole and wonder if anyone else has experienced this and been able to resolve the problem. Thanks any help and advice.

Thanks for your response. At least I have been trying to undo it the right way. I was beginning to have doubts. The only route I have not gone down is heat. I will sleep on it and decide what to do tomorrow. Will let you know what success or otherwise I have.

I took the tool, applied epoxy to the tool tapped it into place and next morning it unscrewed nicely .... :rob

Just put the removal tool in place. drill two diametrically opposed holes in the filter body and put two self tapping screws through the tool and into the filter,
it will come out no probs. I guess you were kidding about heat? if you want to play at buddist monks last rites thats the way to do it.

Strip of sandpaper around the inside of the oil filter removal tool, hammer it onto the filter and undo.

It's never failed for me on stuck filters. .

could it be.. maybe that some of you are screwing the filter in a tad overtight? perhaps?

unscrewing something with a torque of just 11nm shouldn't be difficult.

Yes no doubt I did, I had an oil weep and nipped it up, bad move:augie
