1150GS oil leak

Got to work this morning found oil all over me boots!
On having a look i can see the oil is coming from the top of the engine, I can see drips on the back of the alternator.
Anybody got any ideas what may be leaking up there? is this a common problem?
No its not overfilled before one of the smarter guys out there puts that one in

I take it your bikes new? If so, it's a factory fitting problem! Some numpty at the assembly line has forced a seal into place incorrectly. Up under the tank, the oil cooler pipe has a joint, oil is most likely leaking from here.

Its not a new bike its done 17.5k and was used all through last winter as it will be this year. the winter is the problem or rather the salt! the bane of winter riders had eaten it way through the alloy sealing washer under the temp switch on top of the engine now fixed with a nice copper washer.
