1150GS running hot?

My gs is more or less constantly running a bit hot as soon as I hit any traffic at all its up to 6 or 7 bars on the temp and also tonight on the way home the pipe coming out of the left cylinder head was glowing a dull red in minutes, anyone reassure me or tell me whats likely to be causing this?

whats the tickover rpm @ 5 bars?? i.e normal working temp

if it's 1200 or higher carefully turn the big brass screws clockwise by 1/4 turns each till you get it down to 1050 to 1100 rpm

how much oil in her? too little it won't absorb the heat!

Sounds usual if your staionary for long periods in london traffic - one piece of advice, don't hold the clutch in while stationary, get the bike into nuetral and let the clutch out.

sounds like the throttles aren't balanced correctly

my 1100 never goes over 5 bars even in sydney temps and traffic

Reached 9 bars on my 2002 1150 once in traffic in salzburg once before I shut her off to cool down just as it went up to 9.It was an exceptionaly hot day. Had 6,7,and 8 at other times aswell.Used to worry bout it especialy as no one else seemed to get 8 or 9 bars even in really hot countries.Had the bike since new and aint messed about with anythin like tps voltage and stuff like that due to the fact Im a mechanic to trade and a great believer in the saying "if it aint broke dont fix it". Got a second hand hall effect sensor I carry with me when touring as the wiring on it tends to get damaged if the engine reaches high temps too often.
The bike still does it in really hot days but again I shut her off when I reach 8 bars.
Its ok when on the move though.

ta folks this is making me feel less worried think the throttles may need a check, hottest its got was a hot summerday in london traffic shut it off at 9 bars, Thanks for the advice guys
