Disconnect battery first!.Most important.
Remove torx screw from cover.
Remove cover, disconnecting aux socket. You can now see starter.
Remove nut from starter solenoid (just the upper one) and solenoid spade connector.
Remove 2 x allen bolts, preferably with ball headed allen key.
Pull out starter and clean it of all the clutch debris.I used petrol and brush.
Rotate starter pinion and clean the motor shaft so it moves up and down freely.
Now the controversial bit.
The clutch generates dust which sticks to grease and forms a paste.
I do not grease or oil the starter shaft for that reason.
If it is dry,the clutch dust will be removed easily by the drive gear.
Other people say lube the shaft.Your choice.
While you have the starter out, check for oil in clutch area and friction plate thickness.
Reassemble and test.
