hi all,

i've just replaced my starter motor with a new one after intermitant failure.

(it could be the dredded magnets that need re-glueing)

so, ive got one that i could have re-conditioned, question is.....is it worth it???? :nenau

thanks

Has anyone on here had a started of this seller?

Not but they've sold nearly 30,000 items and have a 99.7% good rating so it's likely that they're an decent auto factors with highish turnover.

Yes I have one myself.
It works fine. and easy to fit like OEM.

My original starter's Bendix died ( started to slip ) in 140.000 km.

Mine went on the N7 just outside Dublin last week. Joe Duffy BMW wanted €450 for a new one! Like yours it's an intermittent fault, originally diagnosed by Keary's in Cork. They had suggested getting a good old-fashioned mechanic to strip it down and recondition ... I know which BMW dealer I'll be using in future.

Trailered the bike home and Roynie stripped down and simply cleaned the old one with WD40. It did the trick, though it's likely to go again, they tell me. Nice to know I can get a new one so easily. I'm glad I wasn't conned into paying silly money for a replacement. :thumb

Doesn't really help as you've got a new one, but for anyone else reading, you can send your old one to Motorworks and they give you a lump off a new or reconditioned one.

thanks for all your responses, i'll keep these people in mind for the future, i wouldn't have got it as quickly as needed from this german outlet but really good knowledge for the future - another reason why £12 subs to this site are the best thing money can buy :beerjug:

thank you!

Same thing happened to mine, cover was jamming the starter,I cleaned it out and put it back together without the cover and it has been fine for the last 15,000 miles.:thumb2

Tried that too but the 3 gears kept failling out nothing holding them in
