Hi guys im just in the process of removing my gearbox ive removed the 6 bolts securing the box but for the life in me , im unable to pull it apart any suggestions would be grateful
Thx guys

Are you using some guide bolts? ( long bolts with the heads missing)?

If so just a tap or two with rubber mallet should fettle it - the bolts will support it

Ignore the bit about the bolts , it’s just a way of aligning the box on assembly and supports the weight a little on removal .

There is nothing holding it on apart from the bolts you’ve removed and years of use! So it’s got to be ‘gentle persuasion’

The dowel pegs are bottom corners if I recall , Thata what will be sticking

The locating dowels will be corroded holding the gearbox in place (you have removed the two 10mm nuts holding the battery/abs tray to the top of the gearbox and popped the tray off the studs, haven’t you :D ) .. I insert a pry bar into the gap where the starter motor fits and gently lever the two apart.

Thx steptoe yes ive removed the bolts from the battery box , the bike has been stood a hell of a long time , its running great but in 5th6th gear if u whack open the throttle cluthch is slipping , hence gearbox removal , took the slave off and its totally shited up with gunge and does stink quite a bit so not sure if its gear oil or what carnt see no oil via the starter hole so thats why im pulling the box its only done 29k 👍

That's exactly the prob I had on my 1150RT during the original lockdown... The bottom dowel was corroded and it took a fair bit of persuasion to release... Prybar or two and a bit of heat and a fair bit of patience... Had it on K's too and you can't believe a small amount of corrosion can be such a PIA... bottom right dowel for me...
