Thought I'd throw this question out to the forum....

Was asked today how much a full set of 1150GSA ali luggage would be worth. Panniers, racks, topbox and mount. Hadn't a clue myself as I've never had a set. Dunno about condition but I'd reckon fairly good.

These ones:

New ........................about £1300

£300 per box, plus locks, plus racks

Looks good in the pic in post 1, don't you think:thumb

If you've got a set for sale I'm interested in the topbox and it's mounting rack.:)

I have no loyalty to anyone but me:augie. I'll would buy a set from anyone if the price is right.

The rounded corners and pressed detailing certainly makes it look a lot better than the sharp edged corners of most after-market boxes.

Never noticed before, are those low locking mechanisms a little vulnerable to those of us who fall off often?

I've sold two complete sets (paniers top box and frames) of ADV luggage in the past, both for around £475.

The locking system isn't the best, but when I have come off it's generally one less box to take off before lifting the poor old bike.

One big hit sent it airborne, http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=252269&page=3 #47

Now bungeed/strapped on and still does the job. :thumb

I suppose thats the price you pay for convenience of removal. I have a set of Caja Sahel which are bolt mtd and don't come off.

Nice looking ride report BTW, so I'm reading it later.

oops off topic :rob:robCarry on.

The panniers will last me till I get to Ozz (AUS) but then I'm in a bit of a quandary. Do I try and get a right side frame and box, thats if there's one available at the right price or just splash out on a new set. No idea what the pannier market is like but I hope that by going to the HU meeting Down Under I'll be able to sort something out.

Being on the road this long I'm always a little bit paranoid about leaving anything on the bike so easy removable ones suits me best. Thats just me, many other RTW bikers I've met just leave the boxes on, I think it only takes one scumbag to have a go at the locks then you are well and truly buggered.

Sorry Flatdog the blog is well out of date after the crash. I'm trying to get Kelly to help me get it up to date, but as she's working hard it may take a few weeks or more.

Hope this is reply is still on topic, I just think these panniers work for me even though I've not had the option of Metal Mules and Co. The £20 tin boxes on the Bullet worked just as well.:thumb2
