Hello,

This is a pretty daft question but I thought I’d ask in case I’m missing something even simpler....

I need to replace the oil filler neck on my 1150GSA due to oil weeping/misting out whilst the engine is running (I’ve already replaced the seal on the filler plug, it’s better but still misting). I’ve got new parts from Motorworks but I’m really struggling to install the new filler neck, the new seal just bulges out and I’m worried that if I force it I’ll do some damage to either the seal, the neck or the cam cover.

Any helpful hints please?

I’m not sure I’d advise the method I recently adopted but it worked for me.

Secure the cap onto the neck & place the whole unit over the hole. Use a house brick (long ways on) to apply a gentle thud to the cap. Bingo!

Thanks, I’ll give that try. Didn’t think about the house brick.

Just bashed it the morning. TBF to Spangle, a wee tap with a 2.5lb club hammer sorted it no problem. Dunno what I was worried about really. :beerjug:
