Hi all,
After some advice on an electrical problem based on the following:
Over the last week I've noticed that when riding the bike in the dark, the speedo illumination starts bright and begins to fade slightly over about 20 mins whilst the rev counter appears fine. Didn't think much of it until I noticed this morning that the clock was off although when i started the bike (started first time), it came back on albiet reset. The lights and the rest of the controls appeared to be fine but when I parked at the station (abotu 10 mins away) and switched the ignition off, the clock went off after about a second.
So other background:
Whilst I'm not obsession about it, I do try to keep the bike in good nick and haven't noticed and trapped, damaged or decayed wiring etc.
My initial thought was a fault with the alternator or a battery problem but thought an OEM battery should last more than 2 years. I must say that at this point I haven't had the chance to get out the multimeter to check battery voltages etc. Has anyone had a similar problem or any other ideas?
Thanks.

So other background:
- The bike is connected to an optimate overnight as the bike is used most days for a 10 mins commute to station and longer motorway blasts of about 30 mins a couple of times a week
- I replaced the battery with an OEM one approximately 2 years ago
- The alternator belt was in good condition approximately 6 month's ago when I check during a service
- The alternator is the original
Whilst I'm not obsession about it, I do try to keep the bike in good nick and haven't noticed and trapped, damaged or decayed wiring etc.
