Hi all, a couple of weeks ago i was complaining that my bike had a flat spot at around 3500rpms.
I had the valves and throttle bodies balanced by steptoe.
I went to Bahnstormers on saturday, and as i was travelling there, sure enough, the bike started to play up. I proceeded to buy a coil pack, a set of main plugs and air filter.
I replaced the main plugs and the air filter at the shop, and went to Loomies and stopped off at the petrol station to fill up.
As luck would have it, i opened up the filler cap, a load of water glugged into the tank. I managed to stop the rest of it with some paper towels.
On the way back after about ten miles it started playing up so i stopped in a layby and changed one of the coil packs. I carried on with my journey and the same thing happened.(after 15 miles or so)
I tried different speeds and i maaged to get it to "perform" at 30mph in third 40mph in fourth 60mph 2000rpm 4000rpm etc.
After reading some threads this morning, i went and brought some dry fuel and set off on another test ride.
As i exited the M25 travelling anti-clockwise (keeping a constant steady pace 60ish mph and about 8miles into my journey) i went round the long left hand bend to join the M40.
As i did, thats went it started to play up. (flat spot/missing/hesitating)
And it kept doing this off and on until i got off at High Wycombe (east).
I put the dry fuel in, filled up and set off again. On the way up the A40 to stokenchurch, i couldnt feel anything (10miles). I stopped of to see family and headed back down the M40.
As i got to around the junction with the M25 it started playing up again.
I stopped of at the polish war memorial and put the old coil pack back in the left hand side cylinder and swapped it with the right hand side. Set off and went to the ACE and then went home via the M1.
From when i changed the coil pack the second time i havent managed to get it to play up.
The dry fuel had been in for about 30 miles before the problem came back. Is that long enough for it to "work" or is it instant?
Was the change of the coil pack a coincidence?
Obviously the hole in the filler neck isnt working, how is the best way of cleaning it, (compressor and put the air line against the hole and pull the trigger)?
Any thoughts please.
