Hi all,
Yes I know I want one, very much and I am on the verge of buying either an 1150 or 1200GSA but would like to ask you experienced GS'ers advice.

I'm a big lad, 6'5", and while I would be riding most of the time on my own I will sometimes have a passenger.
Now I have heard recently that the 1150GSA's seating position is quite different to the 1200GSA's, that the seat is considerably shorter and this makes it quite uncomfortable for a passenger, and for the rider if he has one on the back. Is this just a problem with us long/tall guys?
Befor I decide on which to go for can anyone tell me if this is true? It was a while ago that I was last on an 1150GSA and have only had a passenger on a 1200 demo ride.
Thanks in advance

you sound about the same size as me and I find the GSA12 to have a better riding position legs more comfortable ,you can adjust the seat unlike the 1150 and I rolled the bars back slightly .You'll also like the Get the Feck out of the way Look from the saddle and just about everything else!!:thumb

One difference between a stock 12 and 1150 GSA is that the 12 has seperate seats for the passenger / rider. Which can be either a disadvantage or an advantage :) Also the pillion gets a proper seat area on the 12, on the 1150 they get what's left from the rider and it narrows at the back and the grab rails can get in the way. TT do a nice extender though, which removes the BM grab rails and works even with the BM tin luggage if you "adjust" it.

That can make a difference as some pillions like haveing a good view over the rider and some don't. The pillion is more likely to get a view with the 12 GSA, all things being equal.

Best advice have a day long on either bike with the pillion and then decide :thumb2

Thank you both for your advice, very useful.
I didn't know about the TT extender so that may be a good option if I do go for the 1150, which I must admit I do prefer the look of.
I do agree with the "the Get the Feck out of the way look" comment about the 1200 though :)

Thanks guys

You could also do a conversion to the dual-seat arrangement of the standard 1150.

You get the same effect with the 1150. :D
