Picked up my new 2014 Adventure R.
Previous bike was a 990 Adventure Dakar.
what an awesome bike.
First impressions is the sheer size of the thing. I suspect the colour of White gives a greater illusion of size, but just swinging the leg over and sitting on the thing. I am 6'2 and I can only just get my feet flat on the ground. The height (and the bike in general) reminds me of my 950 super enduro.
The engine is smooth and quiet. Maybe too quiet, so an akrapovic is beckoning. There is a noticeable lack of engine braking compared with the 990.
The brakes are sharp, it wil take a bit of time to get used to the clunk of the floating disk.
The seat, hmmm i am dubious about the comfort over 50 miles, it feels hard.
The electronics and gadgetry, being able to change mode selecting, off road, street, wet and sport on the move is fun. but I found my self riding along playing with the settings and not looking at the road. It also shows you the tyre pressures (amongst other things) I haven't tried it in sport yet. Thats one for the weekend.
I cant wait to try it off road, though a tyre change will be required.
Overall a fantastic bike, very happy.
