For Sale 2015 BMW R1200 R

£5200 ono
Current Mileage 37400 - will increase slightly as used for week end ride outs. Will not be stripping it as it is set up just as I like it!
Owned by me since 2023 when it had 13 000 miles on it. All recalls completed. Full BMW SH. MOT until July 2027 despite advert stating otherwise. No advisories. Just had big the service incl valves etc. A new Cardan shaft has just been fitted at same time as part of BMW's every 18k warranty recall on Shaft Drives. Please note bike has not been cleaned before photos.
Closer photos will show dirt and some minor corrosion on the hugger and around front left on engine. Nothing major for a 11 year old bike.
Tyres in good condition prob 3mm and 4mm on front and rear. Full BMW Service History. Heated grips, crash bars, DRL, USB Dual power supply on dash. Wunderlich Radiator guard, 2 keys, manual, data tag. Large V Stream Technik windshield and Puig flip up.
Front suspension rebuilt with new seals and oil etc by T Tech Suspension in 2025 June. Rear shock upgraded to Tractive suspension June 2025 at same time - Fully Adjustable. Givi Top Box

I'll probably talk myself out of selling if I try answer this lol! Why sell? Mmm, not really that sure. I just had it serviced, just renewed annual insurance and a fresh MOT. New Shocks a year ago, it has all the Mods I would ever do on the next bike as well. I'd like a wonder wheel though....maybe...

I do feel a little pain in my hip when doing longer distances- but that is usually only about 4 times a year! So I have started looking. What do I want? It changes every evening!

I have gone down the route of selecting makes and models based on ergonomics then reviews. I love the look and size of the 1200 Caponord but they have really held their value over the last 3 years and those in the £5 to £6 grand bracket are close to their big services. Also incredibly hard to get a test ride close by as they are quite rare. Same as the Multistrada's. They are good value and have a lot of bells and whistles and I can fit on one, but again most are very close to the big Desmo service which is around 800-1000 so their value isn't really that good with this factored in. BMW doesn't really have a massive service that can't be done at a local for good value, so my thoughts currently are a 2014 upwards 1200GS TE. But again some are just asking silly money. I saw one in Dobles last week or so with 68K on the clock but they wanted close to 7k. Now the mileage is not putting me off, its just any resale on that bike will only ever be around 3.5 k in 2 years time. I test rode a 2020 Stelvio which was only ever going to be fun on open roads under a good throttle. Not going to excite me beyond looks in inner London. Same for the V Strom 1000, which was almost new with just 2000 miles and registered 2022 but it just didn't have any decent sound or feel beyond a good, solid buy. I do like the Versys 1000 but they are still on my to be tested list, as is the Yamaha 2019 Tracer 900. So tbh, I have no real clue beyond knowing what a great engine the 1200 WC is, sounds, and the comfort BMW put in. Gotta sell mine first though, hence the open to offers tag line

I changed my 06 hexhead for a 2016 lc

worst thing i ever did, most unreliable model i ever had the misfortune to own

Went back to a 2011, better than the hexhead, but without the electronic reliance the LC's come with

I had a heart purchase earlier this year and bought a wing

Now the cat is really amongst the pigeons

Chalk and cheese springs to mind

The wing is everything the GS is not,

but no matter what, the GS still has that , something thjat i cannot put my finger on.

But it still is and allways will be an allround bike that delivers no matter what wind rain snow ice summer winter spring autumn

will i get rid of either,

I can only have 1. No storage. I sold my 2010 TC for an africa twin. Hated that. Bought a caponord 1000. Liked that, but basic and out of date. Had a 600 bandit which was super smooth, slick and easy to ride but just wasn't a twin with engine breaking and I couldn't see myself loading it up with camping gear. Bought the 1150R which I loved, but getting to the battery etc was just a pain in the arse, alongside the server whine...Bought the 1200R and love the engine, no issues with the bike at all (reminds me to cancel the bloody warranty now, thanks). Just fancy more leg room. Toying with the idea of a taller seat (£160) on e bay at mo and that might solve all my issues. As stated, I wouldn't mod my next bike any further than tis is modded. It has everything on it and how I use it.

Have you tried moving the seat bar and rest under the seat that may help and grabbing a new set of offset front bobbins, they might give you a bit more leg room,?

no seat bar. Bobbins can be fitted and used in the opposite way in which they are being sold, I think/hope. Just ordered some at £5 so will see but it will only lift the front slightly. I think the next step is the high seat (which will put my feet to ground distance at 840mm. Currently 790mm or so. Unless this goes in a week or so I'll try that. But the niggle issue will probably forever be an earwig now...dog with a sock etc
