Hi, I've been doing some long spin over the past two days in heavy rain so I've had a chance to make an observation while the speed was slow!
My speedo reads approximately 10-15% higher than what I am traveling at according to my GPS. Is it possible that it is set/calibrated for the 21 inch wheel on the R version!!! The would roughly equate to the difference in speed being displayed. Can the wheel size be selected in the operator menu or through diagnostic menu maybe?
Has anyone else had it noticed this issue?
While driving at 60mph GPS shows 51mph
Thanks for help
Sean

Mine reads high, but I couldn't say by how much, 10% maybe?

I believe the Rs read high as well.

Yes, mine is high too (R). If you float about on different forums it seems to be a familiar complaint. There was some talk of a software update re the speedo, but I'm not sure if that's correct or just the inevitable forum bollox that gets spouted !
I'll ask my dealer when I book it in for its first service ...

I'd heard that it'd been sorted on the 2014 bikes, obviously not given what Giles says.

Still, it at least explains why the indicated 140 I had the other day didn't feel quite that fast.............. ;)

Ahh mine is a newly registered 2013 ...

Well, after fitting my GPS I can confirm that my 2014 'R' reads a good 10% fast so it doesn't look like KTM have done anything about the speedo thus far.

Yes, mine has recently had it's 600 mile service, most of which seemed to be software updates talking to the mechanics. Speedo still a good 10% + out ....

All speedos read high by about 10% car van bike or truck stops you suing them if you get done for speeding mileage should be ok

legally they are allowed to read up to 10% high, but i can say, most modern speedos i've used are fairly accurate.

except my 1190 of course :)

Not that it bothers me at all but yeah, my old GS was pretty much spot on until it got towards three figures and, bizarrely, my Husky with it's posh bicycle speedo is über accurate.
