1190R Pillion Comfort

I'm seriously considering one if these at the moment but have one worry.

One big reason for getting my GS was pillion comfort. The Lovely Amanda is dead fussy about it and the GS was one bike that she found really comfy.

Looking at the KTM and having read a few comments on here I reckon the pillion pegs look a bit high (not a lot but enough to make a difference).

I'll be trying out the bike for size with Amanda but in the mean time anybody got any comments on pillion comfort and/or possibly lowering the pillion pegs - ta.

I would be more worried about the engine heat cooking your legs Andres. I had a second test ride earlier this week and even at speed it was still noticeable.

It's a funny one that; some people seem to have quite an issue with it and others either don't notice it at all or seem happy to live with it.
A proper test ride will no doubt make my mind up on that one (provisionaly booked for next week).

Ok so not the 1190R but...

I have a Renazco seat on both my 640 and 950.

Ange found it very comfy on the 950 now but doesn't have 'her own space' like on the GS, which from my point of view is a good thing as it helps the bike handle much better two up.

She also said she won't be falling asleep on the KTM!!

So, the right seat sorts it.

As for heat on the legs with an 1190? The first thing I heard about it was on a forum and hadn't noticed it at all, that also included riding slow trails where you'd expect to it to get hot.

Perhaps because during that 7 hour ride I was wearing leather trousers

Regarding heat on the riders leg. If there's an issue someone will shortly make a deflector, just as on other bikes

Take your test ride for as long as possible ie. if they say 2 hours take it for 3 or 4 .... or more

Sadly it made the bike very uncomfortable for me and I did try it in a range of riding conditions and a good variety of speeds but even at higher speeds it was noticeable. I was wearing my Rukka Focus trousers and I doubt very much that wearing leather trousers would have made the slightest difference. I took a Multistrada out today and had no issues with engine heat on that at all.

I was wearing textile breeks the day I took the Adventure out and I had it for about 5 hours. Never noticed any heat coming off the rear cylinder, tho' it wasn't as warm a weather than what we've been having lately. In all honesty, I can't see it being a problem and as said, someone will be along shortly to make a defector of some type which will appease those who are bothered by it.

I rode my R through some of the recent (fecking) hot weather and can report that the heat from the engine is noticeable, especially on the left hand side.

However, I managed to survive those really hot days unscathed and am actually looking forward to having a hot bott when the weather cools down. Afterall, how many really hot days do we get each year in the UK?

Down in the Alps over the last couple of weeks I noticed the heat from the cylinders on my 07 GS when the sun was at it's hottest so maybe the KTM will keep you warm in the winter like the GS does. Lets face it the weather is exceptional at the minute.
We sat on the 1190 at the bike show last year and my local dealer spotted us and offered a full day test ride but so far I've resisted it as I'm sure it will turn out to be expensive.
