First things first....
a HUGE thanks to Adam for organising this ride out, and for putting up with me for two nights to make it possible for me to do the ride cheers mate !
Friday
after a hectic few days or working away from home I drove 120 miles NORTH... to get my bike before setting off on the 300 miles ride SOUTH....
I left at 2.30pm just as the weekend traffic was building and the further south I went the worse it got...
I eventually left the M1 in Northants to take to the back roads around 5pm and after an impromptu excursion on a greenlane(bridleway) thanks to the Zumo or Adam (I'm unsure which) which was an experience with a full tank of fuel and full luggage on board.. I arrived at Fareham to be greeted with a cup of coffee and a PIzza..
Beer was bought and consumed then off to bed.
Sat
dawned all nice and foggy..I set off on a nice twisty back road route to the RV point which would have been lovely if not for the fog...top entertainment riding along unable to see the road more than 50yds ahead but with bright sun and blue sky's above as the fog was that low !
Arrived at the RV to see a motley looking bunch of pukka enduro bikes, a couple of DRZ's and the heavy weaponry of a "herd" of GS's and GSA's and a couple of Austrian light artillery in the form of some KTM Adventures...
Our Glorious leader gave us the do's and don'ts inc the marker system
and off we went.
It didn't bode well when upon starting one of the KTM's sounded like a cat was stuck in the engine..
still only a loose clutch bolt eh ?
Having progressed to the first lanes, I have to admit to being pleasntly surprised at howcompetent the Panzer was on the loose stuff, OK it'll never be a pukka enduro bike but it was surprisingly agile and sure footed...Mud and slippy chalk were a tad different but on Gravel and dry earth it was excellent.
The first large puddle nearly caused a few casualties amongst the Panzer divisions but on the whole no worries...
Onward and upward..I was really enjoying it by now..marking junctions in the trail.
a pic of Jazzy in flight..
So far...so good...I'd stalled my Panzer in a large puddle and had a mild panic when it wouldn't start first push of the button but it soon fired up with no problems...
