12 GSA Fuel Range/Gauge Accuracy ?

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

I've just taken delivery of my GSA and opted for the trip comp amongst other extras.

I'm surprised at how the fuel range goes up and down like Abi Titmuss on a friday night.

I picked the bike up with a full tank and the predicted range was 345 miles.

After 70 miles,the predicted range was still 333 miles.

But in the last 20 miles of riding,the fuel gauge has dropped from just over half to only 3 bars and with 132 miles on the clock,the range to empty is now only 127 miles !!

Yes this has been covered before and the best quote so far has been "Fuel Gauge is for entertainment purpose only!"

Sad but true, not what you would expect - reset the trip guage and keep an eye on it.

I have had the fuel warning light come on when the tank is 1/3 full.

The only really useful part of this is as the tank gets low it allows you to eke out the last miles w no fear of running out of gas. I get about 270 to a tank before its showing 10 miles to go or less

I've noticed the same up and down with my limited 2000 miles of riding. But I've also noticed that once you get down to the last bar the range estimater is fairly accurate in counting down the last 100 miles. Still I watch the trip meter. I've been averaging 320 miles a tank at 80-90 mph on the autobahns in Germany.

Its all down to the lack of speed, 35mph speed limit won't help the situation

Didn'y buy the trip computer option for my GSA12, but have noticed that after about 130-140miles the fuel gauge drops from nearly full to nearly empty after only a couple more miles. When the fuel warning light comes on, there is a countdown showing miles remaining with the fuel left in the tank. As far as I am aware, the computer is sensitive to an individuals riding style and will also give different readings for motorway riding as opposed to town riding or blasting around on A-roads! The dealer told me the more miles you do, the more accurate it becomes - and I believed him (but I am rather gullible!)
