The reason, or one of the reasons I came to the GS just over a year ago is because I have already dome the big hp bikes and am now getting older and its time to slow down and think about reaching retirement in as few pieces as possible.

I bought the GS for what it is / was and am very very happy.

i like my 80 hp 1100 engine power delivery over the 1200 motor
my average speed is around 50 so happy as is
if i want power i will go zzr1400 or the busa even the the inline bmw
More inportant to me would be how it feels in normal use,if it pulls more like my 1100 then may be interested

ok, 120bhp is all well but is there a corresponding hike in midrange torque and is the 120bhp at the same revs as the peak power is now?
A big chunky midrange is preferable than higher and higher peak power levels, imo anyway

IMHO there will only be a small increase in bhp,the biggest gain will be in the midrange.

Lots of torque on a flat torque/speed curve with 100bhp max is all you need IMHO. Use it well, and you'll keep up with all but the loonies.

Don't forget, you only need power for speed.

I'd rather BMW worry about quality, reliability and durability - three things I'd value as a developemnt for the next generation GS.

Seems to be most likely a samll increase in power and less midrange if the "updates" from 1100 to 1150 to 1200 are anything to go by

Very true, but if the new switch gear on the Ks is anything to go by BMW have not got the message yet.

YUP. I would like 120bhp.

There's a lot of bike to shunt about there. My ZZR600 has 95bhp at the wheel, and tops out at 155mph+. GS tops out at approx 135mph.

A bit more go would be nice. As would a shorter throttle twist grip, if you get what I mean....

will it have valve adjustment by shims? if so its not as user friendly

But the fact is guys digits sell. The 600 market has been doing it for years. Bring out a new model with 1 bhp more and people will buy it. Buyers love figures, and especially break horse power figures. Its for the game of bulls**t tennis played by most men when talking bikes/cars
