Can anybody tell me what's the diameter and dimensions for the 1200 front axle?

The thread in the front axle is 24x1,5 mm, so the "smaller" half of the axle is most likely 24mm, and the seal that goes in the hub on the "bigger" side is 30mm inner diameter, which leads to the conclusion that this side is very close to 30mm od, but I would assume that removing your front axle and measuring it with a caliper would give you all the answers you need. May I ask what you need the measurments for?

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Most bike stuff in South Africa is close to non existing. I want to make a tyre balancer, and the ones you can buy from the US of A is just to expensive if you add postage.

I don't own a vernier/caliper to measure accurately, I want to buy a rod close to the size of the axle to use.

The rear tyre adaptor is still a bit of a problem for me.

24 mm should fit just fine, or you could get a 15mm axle, and have two cones made that cones out to at least about 30 mm. These will make you able to balance virtually any frontwheel with detachable axle. Just remeber to add a screw that locks the cone to the axle, and when you use them, lock the cones with the screws in opposit direction to each other, so that they do not interfer with your balacingact.
