1200 GS Adv Exhaust upgrade

What is "headers"? :nenau

Is this a duplicate word for downpipes?

I can't find Y headers for sale nor do I know what I'm looking for.

thanks, Tony

Here is the Keihan web site. click on the BMW R1200 info.

It's not an R1 lump so does not give it race bike performance but it's one of the best improvements you can do to the GS in my opinion.

Thanks.

It was already beating the majority of the R1s at the 'Ring last week, but anything extra helps.

I am very tempted with these on my new GS, as I have been delighted with Keihan products on my airhead. The questions I would be grateful for an answer to are:

  • Is this likely to improve or worsen the fuel economy, assuming I do not ride any differently?
  • Do I need to do anything to adjust the fuelling if I leave the standard can on?
  • Will it pop and fart more on the overrun? (My bike does this quite a lot already).

Get me and my :ymca bullet points.

At the moment, the midrange dip is getting on my bloody nerves and for less than £300 this could be a sensible alternative to a Power Commander thingy.

Thanks for tolerating my stupidity. :thumb

keihan headers and motech crash bars

sgt bilko,

do the keihan herders fit with the sw motech crash bars fitted?

ive got a 07gs 1200 with around 17000 miles on the clock and the "dip"in power is starting to get on me t#ts!

know the remus ones dont fit but know the akro ones do to go with the titanium can ive already got!

much rather spend £300 for the keihan ones then £500 for the akro ones!

cheers

Matt, tolerating stupidity is something I'm good at. I've got 2 sons:augie

  • Fuel economy is unaffected
  • No fuelling adjustment necessary
  • It will pop and fart on overrun but not too much with the standard can
  • They will smooth the midrange dip out
  • They will give you more low down torque and crisper throttle response

PM me if you want more info:thumb

Yep, they will fit with the motech bars. They are the exact dimensions as the OE headers:thumb
