1200 GS CAT replacement headers

Seen these on eBay and wondered if any other Tosser has these or knows about them. On the face of it they appear to be well made and are considerably cheaper than offerings from Remus, BOS, Keihan etc.

I was a bit concerned that they don't have a rear mounting bracket but have contacted some purchasers of them and they say that they haven't noticed any problems with the lack of one.

Had these mounted on a 06 12GSA ,and had a bit of a tight fit between the RH O2 sensor and the roll bars for the RH cylinder, clamps and overall look are a bit cheap, but function and sound are top notch. no problem with the missing rear bracket. value for money

Im sure others will be around to tell you to buy the established brands shortly, but im happy with my headers

... As <STRIKE>crap</STRIKE> minimalist as the Motad headers, which also have no rear bracket. But at £160 (IIRC I paid £180 for a Motad set last year) you can't get too fussy.

... I wouldn't worry about the absent bracket, the headers are so light compared to stock that there's no excessive loading that the exhaust port nuts and end-can clamp can't handle comfotably.

... BUT ... The Akrapovic end-can can be a problem with this type of pipe because the Akra clamp is crap. Result you get lots of movement and scratches on the can.

You don`t need the rear bracket due to the weight saving from the CAT removal.

It`s a good idea to get new exhaust gaskets when fitting though IMHO

Couldn't justify £200+ for others when these are around so took the plunge and ordered a set. Extremely quick delivery saw them arrive yesterday together with a couple of proper S/S clamps to replace the galv. (Sh*te) ones they came with. All fitted in about 15 mins. no problems with clearances etc.
Adjusted the PC for blue filter, y piece and Akra (plug removed) can then a short blast up the road coming back with stupid grin on face. I am amazed at the improvement in mid range, 70 - 100 in the blink of an eye - top stuff. Only downside is that the popping on overrun has now gone, I assume that the PC is making sure that there is no overfuelling.

So in conclusion, I know these pipes aren't the best quality, but for £160 delivered they are brilliant value for money.

I have these "cheap" headers and like others I am well pleased with the results.
Again as others have said the clamps are functional!! and I'd like to replace them. Can you tell me where you got your SS clamps from please?

Hi I bought a cheap set of standard downpipes off Ebay.
A local engineering firm cut the pipe, removed the cat and welded it together as per Bluebirds posts CLICKHERE.
£45-00

does anyone know if these will fit straight onto my 2006 1200 adventure with a Bos end can, i'm thinking that they will as the end can fits straigh onto the standard pipes,

might have to make another purchase methinks

Yes they should, I fitted them to my GS and didn't have any problems. New exhaust gaskets recommended though!

would you get the new gaskets from BMW or is there a cheaper alternative,

bouncer My girlfriend got remus header pipes for her adventure and they came in at £240.00 the dealer fitted them without new gaskets as far as i remember and they haven't blown yet,

might just give it a go with the old gaskets and if they hold, no problem.

got a spring just in front of the rear hugger, so i guess they'll be just in front of it then

bought the exhaust gaskets, 14 quid for a couple of rings of very thin metal, fackin ell the stainless clamps from E-bay were less than half that fackin price,

too cold to sit in the garage and fit em at the moment, they look nice sitting on the dining room table though
