I road tested a 1200 wc yesterday, and could hear an awful noise with the visor up over 30 mph. kind of what the washing machine sounds like when the drum bearings have gone. i pulled in the clutch at 60 and returned to tickover and its still there. the bike was fitted with michelin tyres btw. are there any common noises,it ony had 1400 miles on it from new.go below 30 and it disappears.any ideas?

If it had Anakee tyres fitted it could be that. They are noisy.

anakees are the main issue but they are noisey even with quiet tyres the l/c is a noisey engine make no mistake and if you have come from a hexhead its a bit of a shock

Agreed

Thanks for the replies guys,i dont think its mechanical, unless its the drive train, as the noise was there, even when i pulled in the clutch. What road tyres dont make a noise?do we know?

If it's any help I've had several now and they are all 'rattlely' - indeed when I was at the BMW off-road competition a couple of weeks ago I didn't see one that didn't 'rattle' but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about

Is it the 4th gear drone ....... they all do that .

funny that, i found that too, the old 1150 gsa did it too, something to do with the harmonics of all the gears shafts and stuff all aligning every now and again, like a lunar eclipse, i found that and disregarded it. The more i read about the waterboxer, i think ill stay with my gs1150.ill probably paint it like the new metallic blue Rally sport and put the stickers on it.
