Just a quick one guys ,what are the differences between an 06 gsa and the 07 ?? is it just the abs and the crossbrace on the bars ??

Those including the repositioned fog light switch on the yolk top are the only differences as far as I'm aware.

I understood that the rear rack (under the pillion seat) was a two-piece affair on the 2006 model and one-piece on the 2007 model

The 2007 rack doesn't need to be carved out to acccept the Vario topbox carrier either.

My 06 has a one piece rack and already has the cut outs to accept the Vario Carrier which kind of blows that theory out of the water

Yeah, so does mine - but the dealer (not who I bought the bike from) said that those mods were the 07 difference?

i've also just heard that the engine protection bars have been altered because of rusting

Got mine changed under warrenty because of the lite surface rusting - bars are the same but the finish is slightly different i.e. smoother so hopefully problem solved
