There I was getting all excited over the new GSA (deposit beginning to burn a hole etc.) Especially happy that the seat height was adjustable. However this is between 895 and 915mm (old GSA 895 only), so its tall or taller.

It took a little while but I'm happy with my 1150 GS at 860mm (after starting on 840mm). I hadn't bought the old adventure because there wasn't a thinner seat available at the time and I couldn't get the damn thing off the side stand with the standard seat.

Also the 1200 (basic they're calling it!) just doesn't move me like 1150 does. If the new GSA is adjustable why wasn't it designed to be adjustable down rather than up? I wasn't aware that anyone fitted taller seats to the old one.
Is it likey that they will be able to shave 35mm off a seat so that I can ride it?

I'm 5'8" so its not like I'm a midget.

It was metioned a while back that the Basic low seat would fit
@840mm + the 20mm for the ADV suspension,
i think you'll be ok ;)

Dabba this is a question that has stuck a few of us vertically challenged riders but the general believe is that the lower seats of the basic GS12 will fit the new GSA, that being the case you should be able to get a saddle down to the 860mm and possibly beyond as Touratech have released a new saddle that is 20mm lower than the low offering from BMW(basic GS12).

Me at 5'7" have put down me deposit and am waiting the first demo bikes, I will then have a play with the saddles, assuming the statement above is correct,I can see there being no problem of get the ride height to one that I am happy with, with a reasonable level of comfort.

Hope this helps :thumb

Thats good news guys thanks - the good thing is, if its true we'll be able to test it out as soon as the demo bikes arrive and there shouldn't be problems waiting for the alternative seats.

My dealer reckons they've sold half their allocation for this year already so waiting for a test ride could lead to a six month wait if not a year.

Looks like I'll be sweet-talking my better half again after all. :bow

Fitting the seats from the standard GS1200 is an option but you'll have to buy both due to the GS1200A's being trimmed in two tone. I've already placed my deposit and am a little under 5ft 7ins but do have the advantage of weight :clap

Why no low seat option ??? :bash

Conversely, does this mean that 1200 standard owners will want to buy the funky (thicker) two tone ones? :mmmm

(in)artistic impression - assuming the rear section can be retained.

Its lost something - but I still like it.

Can't see anything wrong with that, let's face it the GS in all of it mode's has to be one of the ugliest bike's on the road. Life is about being individual :D
