Is there a way of adjusting any free play into the throttle. I spend a lot of time at town speed and the lack of free play on opening the throttle makes for the odd interesting moment.

a friend of mine has a 2014 GS and he was asking me if there was any way to make the throttle less sensitive as he is struggling with controlling it at low speeds, not helped by a hand condition.

would re-mapping it help?

any help appreciated....

For this one, as Bigcats says, rain mode gives full power but a very lazy throttle

Take it back to where it was serviced and ask for a bit of free play back

Its fly by wire,

so no freeplay as such

Use of the back brake would help more than a slack cable.................

Why do you want to have slack/free play in a drive by wire throttle ? Buy a new 1300 GS as it has lots of free play / lazy throttle / lots of throttle opening to open the flood gates I hated it as I like a stiff brake and immediate throttle A 1300 GS in ECON mode = even more free play
