Hi.
Has anybody started selling a light bar yet that is made and sold in Europe.
The only alterative I have found to date is an American bit of kit but I am not prepared to chance paying customs/import duties.
Also I think it is overpriced and looks rather naff.
Cheers.

Light Bars

You may be right about the light bars but the ones on the link below work well and are light weight. Dont even show...Holds most all lights.. Cheers:D

Hi Dwight
I have looked at you bike on previous occasions but as stated afore I seem to be a magnet to UK customs and every time I get anything from the us I seem to have to double the price with import duties ect.
Come on Migsel where's your superior example I’m still waiting is.
Regards.
Kenny.

Eyup.

Not fitting any more just want to position the one’s I have higher up to try and keep the crap off them.

Mind you now I think about it I do have another pair of driving lamps in my garage doin nowt.

After all it would be no defense for the cages to say they didn’t see me.

I have had a light bar assembly manufactured locally. First test one being collected tomorrow. It is not a bar as such but more of a kit that allows numerous variations of light fixings. This has not be field trialled yet so it will be at least a fortnight before they are available. Might even ask for a couple of field testers. But wait until I am satisfied its fit for purpose. Made out of stainless so it won't rust crack or flake. Dependant upon demand and that it does what its supposed to do I can get them manufactured in steel and black powder coated or brushed stainless.

More Lights More Better

Kenny, dont let them talk to you like that. The more lights are always better, its just that they wish they had more!!:D :D :P

Haven't finished initial testing yet. Just want to slightly change one of the components.
But looks like this.

I can't tell from the picture, will it mount 2 up / 2 down? I have a pair of FF300s driving lamps and intend getting a pair of Micro DE fogs.

Schtum, I hope we ( me and my fabricator ) have designed it to mount anything upto about 5" diameter. There are 5 options to mount lights so it should meet your requirements. Really need to ensure it can cope with the rigours GS's experience. Tried it with 5lbs hanging on each side and it doesn't bother it. Will let you have a bit more info when we have finished testing. As I saud it is only a prototype so not for sale yet.

Seen a crackin lamp that would be the absolute biz for you & its mounted high up.
Unfortunately its about 500ft up & attached to the local police helicopter!!:D :D :D

gazza light bar

Looks good but...

What does the bar attach to on the bike?

There are two screws under the fairing. Are you mounting the light bar into these holes?

The reason for my question is I'm concerned about strength of the light bar to support PIAA 520 lights or others when going in the dirt and the bike is bouncing around. Will the mounting to the bike be strong enough to support the bar and lights under these conditions??

Thanks

Nice job, Gazza. Similar to what I made for mine, although I used commonly available U-bolts instead of your nicely machined block for gripping ths sub-frame. I also had to run a flat bar across between the two sides connecting them to reduce flex on bumpy roads. I take it this has not been an issue with your design?

FWIW, next week I will start beta testing a pre-production light bar unit from a firm that makes lots of high quality light bars for BMWs and others. If it is a good one, I will let you guys know.

Mouse, dead right. Clamps around the trellis support for the front of the bike. I wanted to be sure the mounting and clamp could cope with the rigours of GS'ing. Once clamped up you can if your strong enough bend the stainless steel mounts. These are 3mm thick and it takes a lot of strength ( weight ) to bend them.
Ran them with 5lbs fastened to each side and it never bothered them. Price not sure yet haven't got the bill from my main man. Looking to supply the whole kit for around £70 but that is only a guess. Be able to give a real price by the weekend. All you need to fit the assembly is a 13mm open end or ring spanner. An adjustable wrench would do the same job. All the kit is stainless except the main clamp which is solid aluminium. Comes complete with cable ties and allen key and all nuts and bolts. I am not in this trying to make a living, there just were not any bars about and I wanted one. So my fabricator came up with this and it fits my requirements. Price as always depends on volume. I don't intend to order more than 12. Then thats it. Next thing is a s/s headlight guard, again I haven't seen one that looks right or at the right price, mine will be.
