I really don't understand the question, how do side panels or a hugger keep the sun off you? :D :D :D :beerjug:

Just getting ready for the inevitable British winter, like today, :monkeypiz it down :D

what diffference does it make, we should get wet. anyway hugger useful, instead of silly plastic thing they put as OE :D

Don't mind getting wet use the GS every day all year round, got to think about SWMBO, keep her comfy when we are out :D

Got the side pannels from Nippy Normans and I agree the look and fit is sh1te!!

Fitted n/s first and thought it looked crap and then couldn't fit the o/s as the preload knob wouldn't line up despite fitting the new nut/knob that came with the kit. Tried repositioning the unit to no avail. :eek

They'e sitting in my garage but I've thrown all fixings away! :mmmm

Don't bother! :nono

I've removed the standard crap flap, and protection cover from the rear shock and I'm looking for a suitable hugger...maybe pyramid or sandbar composites, not decided yet. Need something before Winer arrives. :o

Mmm? I had a hugger, which didn't do much, then I fitted the side panels (which fitted perfectly btw!) and thought that they made a difference. I have since been told that the herschl (spelt?) causes more crap to be thrown at you than anything else, so have removed that and the hugger.
I intend to go out tonight, in the rain, and find out.

But I don't know if I can be arsed!

Having just ridden to Germany in some truly sh#te weather,

I can say that i really need something before the winter, starting with waterproofs that are waterproof, something to stop the water forming a puddle under my a#se, and the worst, the spray from underneath, 10 minutes and my legs were soaked.

will have a look at those 99p specials that are on here somewhere, bit blue peter but who cares!!!!

Update.
Went out in the rain tonight (well, drizzle, but the roads were wet!) and wheras the problem is still there, it isn't as bad.
So, to recap. With Wunderlich side panels, no hugger, and no herschl on my 1200, my left boot is wet for 3 inches up from the heel, my right for 1 inch.
I then came back, had a fag (giving up soon) dried my boots, and ran gaffer tape from the left footpeg hangar to the frame, just above the bung.
Out again, and this time my left boot was only wet for 1 inch.
I have an idea that I will try out soon, involving an old rear mudguard from a 'crosser, some cable ties and a stanley knife, which may just be a better looking option to the aldi floor mat!

never heard such a ridiculous thread :D Buy yourselves some decent wet weather gear and ride the bikes :thumb
oh, I have a carbon hugger, and no side panels, but I do have foot flaps (NN's and excellent) and of course my tyres(Heidenaus) don't throw water up from the road :D oh and the rear number plate deflector thingy :mmmm
