Picked my red/grey/black 1200GS this morning from CW Motors in Dorchester.Done 128 miles today and it is brill!

Only difficulty is that I need leg extensions to get on and off it!

Take care!

Cheers!

Have you tried putting the seat on its lower setting??
Enjoy the bike, you have the fastest colour :)

Getting on the moster 1200GS

There is a technique : if it is on the sidestand leave the stand in place and get on, then straighten up and raise the stand. If it is on the centrestand either push it off carefully with the stand down and lean it on the stand and get on or you can simply climb up on to it. I don't think that lowering the seat will help - it is the height of the pillion seat which I find difficult to clear & if you remove this it is all much easier -but rather unsightly. I am just over 6' tall and wear boots with thick soles !
None of my friends (who being French are generally smaller) would even dare a test ride ! Of course once you're on it and away it feels just right. I had an 1150 before and that was not so high. Enjoy it now that spring is here; Brian
(Fortunately my wife used to belong to an Alpine club so she manages to climb aboard while I steady the 'bike and wait patiently !)

Thanks for the advice - it's a lot better than the GSA I tried - could hardly touch the floor at all!

Took it out again today - can't believe how good it is!

PS I have the low seat option already!

Cheers!

I know that you shouldn't but I leave it on the sidestand, step on the peg nearest the side stand and swing my leg over.

And vice versa for getting off.

You could of course lift your leg up and lift it over the seat but it tends to look rather ungainly!

Another option is to climb on it, whilst on the centrestand and roll it forward off the centrestand. I've seen others do this but I wouldn't personally.

I'm 5 ft 10 but have problems lifting my leg high enough to mount the bike without doing this.:shoot:

Try using the right hand side peg - doesn't put as much weight on the sidestand mounting.

Don't know why I didn't think of that - much better idea!
