What is an average cost for a 12000 mile service ? & what in addition to a 6000 mile service gets done ?

The cost of a 12000 mile service is £147.58 including parts, labour and VAT.
The service parts are oil & air filter and engine oil, things like brake pads etc are not included and would be extra but the labour figure would stay the same.

...with my friendly independant BMW servicing guy Roy Gardner, Southport.

Just had mine done today at Williams Manchester, 12k service, £219.:thumb2

F800ST loan bike, if I was smaller and not as cramped I would seriously consider one. What a cracking bike.

Misting up headlight, front engine cover and final drive seal replaced under warranty.

Happy Bone.:bounce1

Interesting........I was quoted £330.00 as a 'ballpark' figure, by Jefferies at Shipley, a couple of weeks ago.......

Mine cost about £300 at BlueBell in Crewe, including lots of money for changing the brake fluid. How long they spent balancing the threottle bodies is anyones guess but the improvement to the engine was amazing. They were also seriously competitive on a pair of tyres.

If you're going to Southport from N.Wales go to Roy Gardner's instead.
I was quoted £174 for a 12,000m service PLUS an MOT! (£147 + £27)

Well I took mine into Roy Gardner today.

MOT, 12,000m service & rear pads - £197.04.

Roy has all the diagnostic gear & even lets you watch him while he's working. Very helpful & highly recommended.

His workshop is on a very quite industrial park & there's a crackin' cafe just a short walk away.

Beats an official BMW service hands down.

Just to add to this thread, I've had mine done yesterday (27/05/08) at Londons BMW Battersea / Park Lane. Which came to £352 :( Unfortunately there aren't too many dealers in London from which to chose and is actually quite surprising i find.

Initially when they called me during the day for what work needed to be done, they quoted me a £600 figure which I wasn't too happy with. This also included a gearbox seal apparently that would come to around a £100 odd to be fixed until I pointed out that this should still be a warranty repair. Additionally they said I needed a new tire and valve since mine are cracked?. Fair enough I should have done this but was a bit short on money and since its still goin fine for the moment I'll look after that next month. There was no replacement of brake discs or such just the usual oil, washers and bits and pieces. And a missing battery strap (that they would have to order in so I had to let that go too)?!

Anyway - got to say, it runs and sounds much better than before. So despite the money I'm happy with it now :). Just got to change that tire.

And just to add some more to this thread .... my 2 year/12000 mile service (though at 10,500 miles) at Bahnstormers cost £206+VAT and the rear pads they spotted were 90% worn during the service were then also done at £52+VAT which came to a grand total of £303.

Comparing to some it seems cheap but not quite as good as the recommended independents. Since it was the last service before the warranty is up and they also agreed to replace the center stand I asked for inspection because of rust all in all it seems very good.

Whenever I pay for anything BMW I think its a lot of money so they probably don't think I smile very much in the shop/garage (I have spent a lot of wonga in there), but when I compare to other BMW dealers and take into account the service its actually pretty good. If I can't find a good local independent I'll probably still go back for the free coffee and screen cleaning.

Any independents near Manchester?

Like the title says, are there any good independents near Manchester? Roy Gardner sounds good, but I need the bike to commute, so its a bit of a trek to get there and back to work. I'd rather not take a day off work just for a service, but I would like them to do a good job.

Currently I use a local garage (http://www.mrpigs.com). He's a Jap bike specialist and I'd trust him to do a really thorough mechanical job, but he wont be able to check for firmware updates etc.

Anyhow just thought I'd ask. Its a bit early for me (8K), but I'll get there before the year is out.

Thanks

TobyS

12000 mile service

Just been quoted £325 for 12000 mile service on my 09 GSA (including brake fluid) at Bahnstormers, Alton. This seems a bit much. Can anyone recommend a cheaper alternative in Hampshire area.

Quote from Cotswold (Gloucester) today, for 12k & Annual service on my 09 GSA was £245 inclusive. Never used them before, but i might just give them my custom.
