When should the 600 mile service be done?

I have done 460 miles in the first week of ownership of my new R1250GSA (lovin' it)

I booked my run in service when I picked the bike up, but the earliest they could do was in 3 weeks.
I have a trip to France that I must do, this is before the service, but I estimate I may have done over 1000 miles before the service.

Would this be a warranty issue?

Note: service indicator on the bike says service is due in anther 750 miles.

Nah I done mine after 1400 kms because dealer was full no problem at all, they just change the oil, and check a few bolts.

Just mention it to your dealer and go. I personally try to leave it as high as possible without taking the piss before the first service. My last was 780 Miles.

I was told they are flexible about the mileage but that I should not exceed 1000 miles.

I would want this done before going on any trip. Have tou tried getting it in to a different dealer?

interesting that modern cars do not require this.

more competition and fleet companies will not stand for it just like brake fluid change every 2 years lol

Yep correct Fred, my dealer said 1600 kms max, which is in the 1000 mile range, at 1400 and even after service, never noticed any change in bike.

I will check with the dealer on Monday.
I need to stay with them as they are doing the service as part of the deal.
I will also see if they can squeeze me in before, as this should not be a lengthy service

Its only an hour normally.

I went through the same 'problem' a couple of months ago. My bike showed 2500 km when first service was performed. As I was waiting for the service to be done, I met a frind of mine, and his bike had reached 3500 km.

Prior to exceeding the milage limit, I called the dealer, and their response was that they merely change the oil and does å general check on the bike to make sure everything is in good shape, as the bike is shipped in a crate and final assembly is performed by the dealer. They claimed that the oil from the factory is the same as used later on. The dealer only asked me to check the oil level and gave me the best wishes for my upcomimg ride...

Spoke to the dealer
They do not recommend going over the 600 too much as this can cause problem in the event of a warranty issue.
They need to convince BMW that the issue is warranty, and if the service record deviates too much from the recommended, BMW have more of a reason to decline any warranty claim.

The good news is, I have my service rescheduled for 1st July, so will be within 200 miles of the target 600 miles, and have a serviced bike before my trip to France.

Thanks to all for the advice
