What's the general opinion re cost of first service. Should I be paying between 150-180 at main dealers?

I paid £88 for my 500 mile first service on 2017 GS Adventure Triple Black last week.

Partly negotiated with bike purchase.

According to hand book 600 miles is a check, first oil/filter change isn't until 6000 miles. So what exactly do they check for £180?

£I65 Chandlers @ Brighton. Can be free, depends on the deal you got... What do you get. Fresh engine oil, filter, rear drive oil changed, check over and software evaluation/upgrades etc. A wash! And at Chandlers excellent and unlimited free coffee, good reading material and if you want, done while you wait but the option of loan bike if you need to drop it off. Is it worth £165 when you could do it home? Jurys out on that one but its good for the warranty!

Quote of £200 inc vat for 1st annual service which includes engine oil and filter and brake fluid flush for me at Williams of Manchester. So yours seems a little high.

Mine was free labour but had to pay for parts and lubricants. Cam e to £86 in total.

Mine was done today. Free to me. That and re-coding my Vario luggage locks were what I asked for and got to clinch the deal before the end of the March quarter. Plus a grand off list price, of course. Amazing what they can do when they have targets to hit for the end of a sales cycle. :friday

£289 quoted for mine next month. I joked about the mechanics having caviar for lunch. Service manager did not find me overly amusing. Then again I don't find their quote overly amusing either...........

I do feel violated and it looks like I'm going to be :blast

Mine was FREE but got in with the deal on my 2017 GSA TE
They changed oils and update as usual

also changed my psi on the dash and free / unlimited Coffee etc plus a loan bike if wanted / needed but chose to wait at Marshall Grimsby BMW

paid £350 from them to do my 38000mls service on my 2011 GSA but should of been a lot more

does good to haggle with them If you can

Wait until you see the complete and utter shoddy standard of their care of your machine, only paid for the first 2 services (in between 4 engine replacements). You'll soon discover if you want proper care of your investment, there is no other safer bet than doing it yourself, fcukd if I will ever let a 'Technician' near my bike again!

I don't think I will bother with BMW after the first service, I'll go to a reputable garage, as long as they use approved parts it won't affect the warranty.

i was offered a two year service plan for less than twice the price of the running in service (which I suspect is part of the reason behind the expensive running in service (to make you buy the service plan) but I saw through that. They are going to have to get up pretty early in the morning to catch me out :drool (about 8am should do it).

No

My first service was free. (600-ish miles)

My first annual service however is £223. This includes some oils, brake fluids. 30 mins. Tech time and vast profits to BuMW.
But some 4500 miles later of lots of fun.

I'd rather pay less but I'm not complaining either. I've forked out umpteen thousand for my fun filled privilege and it seems pretty cheap to keep it on the road.

I'm having a go at no-one in particular but how much do we all spend on a weekends drinking and eating that's gone in hours and no benefit at all the next day but is acceptable. Everything in life has a price.
