Hello fella`s, about to take the 12 plate 1200 GS in for the 12000 mile service next week. would like an idea of costs any one taken theirs in lately. :thumb

Pat.

If you take it to the dealer around £250-£350
Learn to do your own services and do it for half bud and you know it's done right.

Phone around your nearest dealers and get some quotes. They aren't all the same price and you will know exactly what your going to pay. That said your unlikely to get a discount being the time of year it is. Servicing can be a fair bit cheaper in the winter months as their workshops tend to be quiet.

£450 for mine, basic service was quoted at £200, they later phoned to say brake fluid needed replacing as it had been 2 years since the last change, that would be an extra £96. Then told if I needed plugs and filters that would be extra as they weren't covered by a "basic service". I ended up biting the bullet but have since bought some servicing dvd's and do my own now.

My car was £196 new oil, plugs, filters, brake pads.............

Give them a call and ask what they are going to do and ask for a quote. Prices vary around the country so you won't an exact price from these hallowed pages.

I paid £340 to main dealer for 12k service but that was June 2012. Deffo phone around for prices as you can almost certainly better that.

Hi, I have just been quoted £360 for a 36 000 mile service. Service is almost same as the 12k service depending on when you last rode since your 6k service. I have sourced oils, filters and an air filter + plugs for mine delivered at £71. I intend to do the basics (engine, fd, gearbox oils and plugs). I'll take it in for the throttle bodies, valve clearances and free wash once completed. I have been assured they will provide the stamp of dealer approval; and save me a bundle! Besides I get to learn about my bike and what oil and what not. PS, since deciding to do this I have already learned a load and now also decided to replace some of the bolts that are looking tired...

Folks, rather than start a new thread (as I'm sure many exist on this matter), but I would appreciate some advice on good independent chaps that could service / look after
my '08 GSA ?

I've been shafted for too long now by dealers

I'm in SW London - any pointers gratefully received from the knowlegde around here.

It seems that costs for a 12k service vary greatly, depending on what needs done and where yoy go for it. Had my 58 plate in last week for a service at 11600 miles but as some 12k items were done at 9k ot meant that it would be cheaper. I paid £190 for the service and an MOT.

The obvious choice is Steptoe - www.gsshop.biz

12000 mile service 90% completed today! just waiting for the right spark plugs. All in cost less than £80 :) . I have had "service" displayed for the last month in the dash. This is preceded by 03-14 on power up, which is I suspect the annual service date (mileage is 11559).

My question is. Does the dash display stay "service", or will it start to flash or put on the yellow triangle if not reset? I am holding off buying as GS 911 until the wifi version is released.

Thanks
Mark

There is Mikeyboy near Nottingham who is highly recommended . :thumb2

It just stays saying service till it's reset. Mine was like that for a year till I was able to get it reset from a friend with a gs911
