hi all, could anybody please tell me the price of a 12000m service and what

work is carried out and is it worth going to a bmw dealer or a local honda/

suzuki garage. ps the bike is a 1150adv

thanks tarry

RTFM to find out what is on the list :D

DON`T go to yer typical Jap bike jockeys.

Either do it yourself or go to a BMW familiar place.

Bearing in mind your location,go to Southport Superbikes or Bluebell in Crewe if you want an official Dealer...or Roy Gardner at RGM for an Independent.

Do a search in the Dealers forum for details on any of these, and people`s opinions.

My 12000 ml service was £156 32 inc vat l surplied the oil. That was at a main BMW Dealer

I find that very hard to believe.
In the last 3 years I've had my 1150GSA fully dealer serviiced.
That's approx 18 visits with a minor service costing circa £160 and a major sevice circa £360.
So either you didn't have a full inspection service or you got a real bargain.
Which dealer was it. We all should get our bikes done there.

Hard to believe

I can only tell you whats on the Bill maybe you have ABS that costs extra did you have an Annual service with 12000ml service thats extra there's not a lot of difference between 6000 and 12000 no diff oil change no gearbox oil change.

Your bike is a 1200 -without servo or ABS brakes -

Lots of things aren't done on a 1200, that are on a 1100/1150 . Thats why 1200's breakdown more frequently, and it'll only get worse as the bikes get older :D

Ask your same dealer how much the same service would be on a 1100/1150, then you can compare

Well spotted Steptoe! My 53 plate GSA with ABS/Servo will be coming up for her 24K in a bit, 22.5K at present. Do you do Sat servicing or do I have to take a day off work to come up the smoke? Having had the clutch done by a BMW dealer this year, when you were off sunning yourself :) , what sort of money am I looking at? pm me if you want. As for dates, I'm doing hols with family and all that for the next few weeks, so mileage won't tick over until end Aug I think.

Cheers.

24K on a servo bike (includes clutch and brake fluid change) = £200, all parts & labour.
Plus fuel filter change is scheduled at 24K, which is another £30 parts & labour.

Loan bike ( 1100GS) included no charge.
I do service work on a saturday, but it's a very popular day so needs to be booked well in advance

Go for a ride darn sarf and take it to Steptoe. It'll be the best service and value for money that you'll get. You know it make sense! :thumb

A friend when to RGM this week, who always does a first class job. You can even watch if you want!

Total bill for a 12k service, with annual service, replacement rear brake pads, fitting of Remus Y and can and ordering a set of spare keys (he bought private and only got 1) was £275. I thought that was very fair. My 12k service alone in 2003 was £243 at a BMW dealer.
