1200GS Are all engines this rough

Mine is vibey around the 4500rpm mark. Not so much that I'd think there was anything wrong with it though. And like you say - smoother vibes and loads of pulling power above 5000rpm. Mine's an '08. It could be a different software version and I don't know if that would make any odds anyway. I've heard that they've tweaked the balancing on the 08 engine. I don't know if that is true or not. Like you, I've not got anything to compare with as this is my first GS. If you've not resolved the problem yet at the time of me writing this, why don't you go and test ride some dealer bikes with a view to 'buying' one and see if they run any differently.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've checked the oil and all is well, apart from that I'm not going to delv any deeper being as it's an 07 plate and still under warranty until May next year. I'm off to Scotland this week so that should take the mileage upto about 8500 and hopefully it will start to settle down/I will get used to it, if not it can go in for checking when I get back.
I did ride it yesterday wearing a new helmet which is a better fit than my old one and suprise suprise it didn't sound as load:o but it did still feel as rough around the 4/5K rpm area. On the plus side the missus commented that the gear change was much smoother so maybe I'm just getting used to the bike.
Roll on Wednesday:oonyack
