1200GS price rise?

Personal experience

Yes it's only on £5000 and you may receive cash back, but as it's a HP agreement then according to the dealer I dealt with on Saturday you can end the agreement at anytime and not pay interest for the unexpired part of the agreement. With normal loans if you pay it off earlier then you don't get all the interest back. For example 3 year loan paid off after 2 years you only get back a year of the "unpaid" interest. No doubt someone can explain it a lot better.

The above was enough to convince me and sign up for a nice red one with black seat and side panels.:D The only downer is that the spec is not totally under my control and it has to be registered this year. Could be something to do with the sales year?

But then it'll be a 2005 spec bike ie no different, and if the 5% increase happens then I'll have saved close on £450.

Avoiding the price rise.

Hi All

My dealer (BVM) has happily taken my order for a 1200GS as long as I pay for it in full this year. They are then happy to register it on March 1st 2005.

Happy am I!!! :D

Pete

Hmmm, to many references to being happy in the last post. Sorry about that. I'll just go for a lie down somewhere quiet and wait for March 05 to arrive.....

It makes sense now!

Thanks for the response Paul.

It makes sense how the system works.

I'm not sure you're correct in stating that all prices rise on an annual basis. With most manufacturers it's due to a model change or update. This works for the Jap bikes because they change models far more frequently. BMW tend to keep models alive longer and so up the price annually and don't have to make any changes. The more they make the lower the manufacturing cost per machine and with an annual increase the higher the profit the longer the bike is kept in production.
Personally I think BMW are taking the P in a big way. They know they have a good seller and are making the most of it. I don't even think the "lower" spec model will see the light of day for quite some time, if ever.
If I was BMW and could sell all the "expensive" versions I could produce, why bring out a cheaper version?
