Hi Guys,

I had a test ride on a 1200GS last friday and was pretty impressed. I think the engine has lost a bit of its character compared with my Rockster. However I'm willing to lose that character to benefit from the decreased weight.

One quick question though I wasn't too sure about the bolt up right seating position, I'd prefer to learn forward a bit more. I had a quick look and I think it should be possible to rotate the handle bars forwards towards the instrument cluster. Has anybody done this? and did it have any negative effects? I think that getting more weight over the front wheel should be a good thing?

Thanks for any replies

Cheers

Just to disagree completely with everything you've said, I think the R1200 GS engine is far superior to the wheezy old 1150 lump in the Rockster and I've rotated my bars in the opposite direction, ie down and towards me. :)

Hi Schtum,

You're right I had to put a Y piece, different can and a K&N air filter on my Rockster before it felt right. I think if I go down the GS route I won't have to bother doing any of that.

I have test rode a Speed Triple as well and found that to be more comfortable with a upright position but just a little bit further forward.

Cheers
