As some of you may be aware, I have been working with Keihan for some time to produce some quality 1200 GS headers and we are now in the position to market them. Keihan have kindly asked me to market and sell them on their behalf. The prototype set have been fitted to my 1200GS-A for the last 12 months and have proved durable and have attracted excellent comments on both the quality and finish.

These headers are Stainless Steel and are hand made in the UK by some of the most experienced exhaust manufacturers around. They retain the balancer pipe as the standard ones do for low down performance. The headers do away with the CAT and give an uplift in mid range engine performance. Although the bike has not been dyno`ed, we predict an approx 5bhp power increase.

They fit directly onto the 1200GS using the existing clamps and as they are the same dimensions as the OEM headers, they will accomodate the whole range of standard and aftermarket cans.

The first 10 sets are currently being built and will be available from mid January for an initial price £299 (inc VAT) + shipping. Fitting can be arranged if you need this for around the same price as shipping.

The pics below show the headers on my bike after 9 months. For all you polish fetishists, they retain their initial finish with simple regular cleaning.

For more info on these British made headers, either pm me, e-mail to [email protected] or call 07766 554069.

Just noticed the wrong pic in on the post:blast

As they are the same dimensions as the OEM headers, they will fit will all the optional crash bars as long as the fit the standard bike.

Apologies for that and here are the 1200 headers:

keihan make nice stuff.

had several set of pipes from them for my guzzis & currently have a gorgeous (and loud) pair of lafranconi reps on my le mans :)

I`d like to see a comparable dyno run against the standard, remus etc so you actually get an increase of either bhp or torque or both otherwise you might as well knock the cat out of the oe pipe :nenau

Thanks for the pm Sarge :thumb2

Can you confirm they are compatible with Hepco Becker crash bars.
I know you said they are made to the same OEM headers dimensions

... £299 seems expensive.

You pay for quality:thumb They are made in the UK by proper engineers not in some back street in Eastern Europe and have a 10 year guarentee.

They are similar in price to Remus headers from M&P and NN.

Hevan`t dyno`d the bike with the pipes as yet so cannot confirm the specific power increase. However, I can confirm the bike has a much better midrange and throttle response is crisper as per the Remus headers. Hopefully, will be doing some dyno work by the spring.

Knocking the CAT out is an option and may well give you similar results. That`s OK if yoy have the right cutting eqiupmentm welding gear and can dispose of the CAT.

Could you please comment on the sound, does it change the sound of the bike, is it louder? Thanks.

The sound is a little deeper than standard and a bit "fruitier" if you get what I mean!

Some pics of the headers in situ on my bike. These are 12 months old so you can see how good the finish is with a bit of polish. Yes, I know the rest of the bike isn`t as clean:augie

Being an engineer myself I am impressed with the quality and I think the price is ok for a small batch run.
Don't they go blue ?

Yep, they will go blue but that polishes out if that`s your thing.

The quality is excellent as it`s one guy makes them from scratch. This won`t be compromised for price ....:thumb

Chris, would it be possible/practicle to add an option for headers without the link pipe?

Yes...the horizontal pipe between the two headers, i.e. a version like Remus do. I think there would be a demand and I guess the cost would come down a bit.
