1200GSA bulb gone prompt

Was mightily impressed today when riding home (in daylight) to see a "Lampf" prompt on. Stopped and did a 360 round the bike and sure enough the dip headlight bulb was out. (Not having completely RTFM I wasn't sure what the readout was telling me). So a quick spin up to the local dealer later, a new bulb fitted and everything was sorted. If the prompt hadn't alerted me I'd have been getting on the bike in the dark tomorrow morning without a headlight. Top marks to BMW for this handy little gadget. By the way, for those that might be interested, the original bulb lasted 10.5k.

The R12GS eats low beam (dipped) bulbs on a fairly regular basis. It's a common complaint.

One theory is that the grounding wire is poorly fitted. Many stateside riders have "beefed up" the ground wire, either by replacing the crimped fitting or by cleaning the terminals and using some dielectric grease to keep the connector clean and corrosion free.

My GS12 informed me that my dipped beam had blown (again) . A week later it healed itself??. maybe it's my earth wire?.
