1200GSA extended warranty option - any opinions?

Bugger me, steady on chaps. I asked the question because I wanted unbiased opinions, irrespective of how strong they were. It just so happens I've had zero issues with my GS650, GS1200, HP2, GSA1200 over the past five years but that's my experience. I know other have different ones so fairs fair.

Let's close this off and have a Happy Christmas.

Cheers
Jeremy

No I don't. It was both his opinion, and a valid point. The two are not exclusive.

Thanks for proving that it is pointless to argue with an idiot of your calibre. You will always drag people down to your level and beat them with experience every time.

There you go again resorting to insults rather than actually having a valid argument.:comfort

Back to the question in hand, i saw in the Daily Telegraph, OK i know you shouldnt read everything you see in the paper, but claiming to offer warranty for £199 for motorcycles. www.warranties.telegraph.co.uk Anyone any experience of this warranty?

The Telegraph markets the Warranty Direct product I believe.
Warranty Direct did a deal with the BMW Owners Club a couple of years ago. I spoke to the underwriter concerned at Cassidy Davis in Lloyd's (who underwrite the Warranty Direct ploicy) when my warranty expired and BMW wanted a crowd pleasing £900 for renewal. He told me that a deal had been done with the club and that it would be much cheaper than the BMW price. The fact that the official BMW price has come down so much since 2006 must mean that there are fewer warranty claims than they expected.

With reference to the other comments that have gone rather off topic:

"Opinions are like arseholes - everyone has one and very few should be aired in public"

Sorry but I had to came back on this one.

If I am wrong you could educate me rather than sling insults at me.

I'm leaving now. :D:D:D

Guys

Jeremy came on and asked a perfectly straight question which has been answered to his satisfaction so can we stop all the handbags now?

So move along now, there`s nothing more to see here:thumb

FWIW I wouldn't own another BMW without warranty. The (early) 1150GS I have is fine, absolutely great. The other BMW's I've owned/own which have been built since 2003 have all been unreliable pieces of crap and have averaged a warranty claim every 2 months.

You can't accuse me of over looking after them either, whatever that is supposed to mean.

If you pay for a warranty though, be careful - or make sure you pay the money directly to Mondial or whoever, my dealer has tried to stiff me twice and keep money that I have paid to them for an extended warranty at the time of buying the bike.
