1200GSA frame paint wear

JimboGSA.

Are you the same sensible young man that I met coming back from the 2006 BMW Biker's meeting riding through France? I too have a 1200 GSA. I too prefer the clear plastic approch to protection, as has been mentioned previously. I don't think the bikes "not fit for purpose" because the paint has scuffed

yeah thats me! hows it going mate!?

well i think all the hassle of going through the courts etc has made me think that some wunderlich frame protectors are the key to this one.

Only thing I'd say to folk who have just got their 1200 is do the same to avoid having a new bike that looks scruffy after a few months.

cheers for the advice chaps.

Will be having my new 1200 Adventure in March / April, but already prepared with a set of TT frame protectors... :D

jeez, they are ugly things:eek: , I'd buy some clear tape, it's uncoonspicuous and a lot cheaper;)

Come on - so who actually bought a GS/GSA because of it's beauty values? ;)
True, but there's no need to defile it's pug-ugly beauty with what looks like a home made lash-up festooned with cable ties;) Hell, a bit of scuffed frame will look better than those!

I think you might find that the cables ties will rub against the frame and remove whatever paint is there. They only need to move micro millimetres to cause markings.
Well for that the duct tape is handy also (covering the covers... yeah, kinda stupid).

Like others, I'm struggling somewhat to get my head around the unrealistic expectations.

Every bike I've ever had has scuffed paintwork/alloywork caused by my boots in a matter of weeks. Do I care? Nope. It's part of the "patina" of a piece of used equipment.

I've no idea how much the paint is scuffed on my GS. It's a tool that takes me to work and back in the dark down a series of filthy lanes so it's permanently covered in sh!te at this time of year.

The problem is, some people are just never satisfied. :hide

Great thread this...........and it makes a change me being on the outside looking in.... :upyou
