1200GSA Fuel Gauge

Now, forgive me if this is old hat and I`m sure I`ve read it somewhere but the fuel guage on my 1200GSA is almost useless. Fill it nice and full and it`s down the the last block and showing about 50 miles left after 120 miles or so..! I`m not thrashing the crap out of it and I`m only refilling with 12 or so litres. The range should be 300 odd miles so something isn`t right. The old 1150GSA guage was deadly accurate.
Bar this annoying thing the bike is brilliant but I will be doing some long haul stuff in the spring and need it to be accurate. I`d rather not find out I was out of fuel when the beast starts to cough.....
BMW say there`s no problem.
Anyone know if this a common fault and is there a fix?

mine's the same but the OBC trip thing seems to work much better.

I must admit I don't use the guage untill it has dropped well below half a tank, and then I only use it as a kind of backup to the "range" function on the OBC

That function I have found to be reasonably accurate and any error to be in my favour eg 15miles to MT and fill the tank up with 31.5 Ltrs at approx 340-360mls

Setting the trip meter is better than nothing. The low fuel light is fairly accurate, sometimes the sucking jet pump gets behind transfering fuel from the other side and you have a little more fuel than you think.

The best quote so far has been the the fuel guage should be labeled "For Entertainment Only".

I've only done about 120 miles on my 1200 Adv so far, but I get 10 miles/ltr on my R1100s - is it much the same on the 1200?

I used to get worried at 150 miles travelled (on the R1100s) but invariably found that I could only squeeze 14-15 ltrs in at that stage, giving a total range in excess of 180 miles.
