Hi,

Bike was in to Vines (SLM) today for a replacement fuel sensor strip under warranty and I am not sure that the fuel tank vent line has been routed correctly down the side of the frame and out the bottom. Has anyone got a pic of a 2008/2009 GSA which shows this properly.

It also looks like they have lifted all of my comms cables (neatly run next to the tank) dropped them on to the frame and then put the tank back on top so my Autocom cable now only just reaches its clip. I'll have to sort all of that out this weekend :blast :hammer

Also got told that I need a new bearing in the final drive under warranty :mmmm

Still not sure why they did not spot that 300miles ago at the 6k service. Or do they really go that quickly.

as long as the breather/drain pipe is not kinked and does not exit near the back tyre it should not matter where it runs also if they have put the pipe in the wrong place then how can they be expected to remember where your comm's wires were :augie

and as for the rear bearing "day all do that don't thee " if they are not used the oil drains from the bearing condensation forms little rust spots and fecks the bearing in short order

ere nigel, hes saying you dont use your bike:D

so how long do you not have to use the bike before rust starts inside you final drive then:rolleyes:

after a ride oil hot drains from bearing snow no ride bike cold weather + cold metal + warm garage warm air enters final drive breather forms water droplets on cold metal housing/bearing rust pit please remember it does not have to be that big a pit but is enough to ruin the track/bearing:roll

er ok but,how long do you reckon you have to leave the bike before rust occurs, your not a politician are you,

btw with you explanation virtully all garage kept bikes would have fecked engines boxes and fd

my 2008 gsa, went through final drives & bearings like they were going out of fashion. Needless to say i havent kept bike as warrenty is running out. New bike ordered and waiting delivery.
I could tell when my final drive bearing was on its way out. The nearside of the rear wheel (not the shaft side) oil would come through and spin out round hub. I was told oil cant get that side, but every time that appeared the bearing had or was in the process of failling.

Lets hope my new one doesnt have so much trouble :blast, and yes it is going offroad, its suppose to isnt....:eek

well just remember horse if you go fording and your final drive is under water it will suck water in through the breather due to rapid cooling so change the oil at the first chance to stop rust:D

Mine would certainly not suffer from lack of use! Plus it does not live in a nice warm garage :D

I am now intimately acquainted with removal of the fuel tank on a GSA

They had not only dropped the cables down under the tank they had very kindly zip tied them in place so the tank would have to have come off at some stage to remove the AutoCom if I changed (:augie) the bike. They have now been run neatly over the tank under the side panel!
