1200GSA LC Clutch Problem

Don't BMW put all new bikes through a short rolling road test before shipping the bike? I am sure that I saw a video of this somewhere with the tester going up and down the revs and through the gearbox - if that is the case then how come the tester passes the bike if it has a faulty gearbox?????

No, it's shipped without that test.

The video that I saw recently (from the factory web site) showed a LC GS on a rolling road going up and down the box.

Aye, a test one, it won't be every bike. It's a sample check to gauge quality and tolerances. If every bike was tested to that extent it would have to be assembled, tested, disassembled, shipped and reassembled.

Bought my 1200 LC with 600 miles on it. No problem until I got to around 1700 miles and noticed that when the bike was warm, neutral very difficult to find. This is my first BMW and the gearbox does seem to be different from those I have been used to on my Jap bikes for the last 40 years. It is quite a clunky box and have noticed irregular ticking noises when the clutch is pulled in whilst waiting for traffic lights to change etc. Hope the issue can be resolved as it is becoming annoying and something I have not experienced on other bikes.

Oh no, here we go again.

Obviously my riding is at fault, that's why BMW are giving me 100% of the purchase price on my 2013 LC, against a new GSA.

Don't get your hopes up, clutch rod changed, clutch changed, slave cylinder changed, bike replaced ...

Update !!!!

Ok new clutch fitted, one and a half hour job apparently.

Rode it away being very sceptical but to my surprise it was much better .it still has the initial clunk into first gear.

Yes I know they all have that!.

I will be riding it this weekend on a 500 mile trip fully laden before making a judgment

Update 3600 miles in after the new clutch fitted
Is it better? Yes I have to say it is better but not perfect.
For a fully loaded bike at £17 k. I expect to change gear with a silky smooth action
Not the odd smash in to first with a clunk into second [The rest of the gears are fine].
Am I happy no not really, I would like it perfect.
It does not seem to have the build quality of my old faithful 2008 GSA
I will have to live with the Gearbox/Clutch issue because in all other aspects it is awesome!
And to be honest there just isn’t another bike out there that suits my needs
I have tried the other alternatives and they just don’t push my buttons

Mine had all things replaced as yours did and I find that I miss gear changes more often than I used on dragging clutch. I was told by Service manager that clutch issue hasn't been fixed permamently yet by BMW...
