1200GSA or 1250GSA

How many times we heard people convinced it's faster after spending a ton of cash.....

Unless you're MotoGP rider, you will not get to Starbucks any quicker.

If you're measuring milliseconds you shouldn't be on the road, as were talking 'Cow Racing' here....

My Cow is faster than your Cow..... it's still a Cow

Don't be daft. It'll be milliseconds and nothing in the real world.

You telling me I'd beat you on an R1250 if you were riding the R1200.

The bike difference wont make any difference up to 100mph.

It's pure paperwork stats fantasy.

Same as all the tuning wars bullshito

I could beat myself on the 1250 compared to the 1200 so cant see your point . Real world is , the 1250 is better ( thats from an owner )
I dont look at sats or figures , the answer is riding and owning one , like you say real world comparison , again from owing both.:thumb2

The money is not an issue or sore point , its my hobby.
My cow is younger , fitter and un molested.Oh and faster.:augie:comfort are you justifing not spending the cash and wishing you had perhaps :green gri:D

Picked my new 1250 GS rallye last week, just topped the 500 mile mark and absolutely no probs so far:hide:hide

I should hope not, but you say it as though it’s an achievement !!
But that should silence the doubters. The 1250 is so good that it can pass 500 miles without an issue.Buy with total confidence .

Mine only made it to 5000 before it developed problems.....

Haha, the shiny new R1250 do look nice I give you that. Your's looks very nice :thumb2

Not enough of a step change from my 2017 Goldilocks Steed of Awesomeness so I'll wait.....

AND I've still got my promise to update my Corrosion thread on here. Coming up to 24,000 mile service soon (no thanks to Covid-19).

If they ever bring out an M-Cow - I might get sucked in again, as it'll be faster :D

I did love my 1200 and miss it still as I did a lot on it . The new one for me is great and if the new engine had not arrived I would , like you , still have it ,I had the chance to change so I did . Bit of banter and glad your happy with the 1200 :thumb:thumb

My Cow still has a rocket up its arse lol :beerjug::beerjug:

... and up to 100mph it still isn't any faster than the R1200 :D

Have to disagree, iv'e had 3 1200s and up to 100 was always neck and neck with my mate on his vfr 1200, he can't get near me on my 1250! That's why he's just ordered one the sad little prick

I take it :hide is lost on you:comfort

Warlord...sorry if you are too cheap to upgrade but you lie to yourself or you have never ridden one if you say there is only a difference above 100 mph between the 1200 and 1250...You are dead wrong. The 1250 has so much more torque than the 1200 right from idle on.The 1200 will stall if you let the clutch out too fast...the 1250 will pull like a tractor and is much smoother/mechanically quieter.0-60 the bikes will be the same because of wheelbase and acceleration dynamics but above that the 1250 will walk away...Above 100 the difference becomes painfully clear where the 1200 labors to hit 140 the 1250 will get there quick.Actually that is probably the reason while BMW left 20 hp on the table with the 1250 because around 135-140 might be already too much if you run with full bags and top box.So what you get with the 1250 is a much smoother engine with perfect fueling that feels much stronger through the whole rpm band due to higher torque...The rear tire speaks to this...Whereas I got 9000 miles on the rear running fast but smooth on longer trips to conserve tires without hard breaking/accelerating in and out of turns which eats tires on the 1200ADV I only got 6000 miles on the 1250ADV...but it was worth it...;)
Same the Hayes calipers that are much better than the Brembos on the GS !
Only reason keeping your's...they don't have a TB 1250 ADV yet...:D
Buy an exlusive and have the panels sprayed black...:thumb

Erm... I had a VFR1200 for 3 years and 15000 miles from new, and it would eat the R1250 alive haha.

175 bhp that thing had, and long gear ratio's... it'd wheelie in any gear and be off like a scalded cat up to 160 mph

He wasn't riding it properly :D

Next you'll be saying it's faster than my ZZR1400 Performance Sport....

Depends where your riding really , the VFR will not be quicker in the mountains as will the ZZR ( I personally hate them as I went away with one to Spain and it was awkward , heavy and could not deal with the mountain twisty roads and got in our way ) the VFR as good as it is is still a bike that can be beaten as long as your not drag racing to the Cafe or setting up a wheelie session , take the TC of the Gs and see what happens , oh , you have the 1200 ........... 😂😂😂👍👍Simon Hargreaves review is excellent and worth a read .I think that’s how you spell his name , I’ll copy the link as it has some good points , made by both you and me so would be interesting .

..... and then read the Comments Section. People aren't daft. They know....

Touch of the green eye from some of those me thinks.

The bike is better, it's progress - ignore the headline numbers and ride it, you will notice the difference.

I'm not saying it's a bad bike, far from it.

But the form factor is almost identical to the outgoing model that I have.

So what I'm saying it's pointless arguing over who is happiest. Me on my R1200 or others on an R1250. We're all happy :D

When mine get's old and fuddy, I'll buy a new one and be happy it's a new and shiny upgrade, which the R1250 is.

I ride regularly with a brand new R1250 GSA in the group, he's not any quicker than when he was on his R1200 in reality. His style of riding is the same and we always all still arrive at our destination the same time as each other lol... like it's always been. With a mixture of BMW, Triumph, Suzuki bikes.... 750cc to 1250cc

Overtakes still require the same planning, we rarely go above 100mph because this bike isn't the right type of bike to be going deep into 3 figure speeds.

Everyones a winner. Unless yours is falling apart or you don't have a bike at all.

Agreed, in tight mountain corners both the VFR1200 and ZZR1400 are too heavy, long wheelbase and not ideal.

Fast sweeping corners, and any straight of half a mile or more and they'll be gone.

That's why they're good distance tourers.

Totally agree , but as this is a GS site the comparison is strange . Personally i ride the twisty roads , but if i wished to cross Europe fast on main roads the VFR and the ZZR would be the bike of choice. But i would cross Europe via the back roads ...Thus the GS is perfect.:thumb

As promised. https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/bikes/bmw/bmw-r1250-gs-2019--review
