Arsey , in 25 years there might be no R1250GS on the road anymore but this has nothing to do with reliability or build quality but with people getting bored and wanting something newer/better/more exiting to stay interested...Looking back 25 years ago to the 1100GS the 1250GS is pretty much the same bike but a much better one !
-no surging / perfect fueling
-much more power & TORQUE
-much better brakes/ABS system
-traction control to make it easier to ride for people who are hamfisted in the rain or slippery surfaces
-cheaper to maintain & more reliable due to wet clutch up front and electronic throttle bodies that stay perfectly synced
-better handling
-better suspension
-no overheating in idling situations
-much smoother shifting
-wet clutch can stand more abuse off road
The only advantages of the old one I can see , they were cheaper and did not have radiators or coolant to check for...and I can do without keyless !
So it will be interesting to see what the 2045 R1500GS will bring new to the table if we are still around...
