I'll give another :thumb for the BWM bag, I've had mine a couple of years now and it's been all I could ask for.

As for being 'flash' ? That thought hadn't occurred to moi

Calling Rank Amateur.....

That's as good an endorsement as you will see this week! And, coming from a Scotsman, doubles its value :D :thumb

I still have one for sale £100 plus P&P - it would be rude not to snap it up.
Ah 2 mistakes in that post...

I meant to say 100% watertight not zero % :o

Also I am but a settler coming north of the border from Stockport - however I am a bit grippy with my money ;)

Got a Baglux on my 1200GSA. As said before not overly waterproof but very good as long as you don't have a beer gut - then it might get in the way.

I used the Famsa bag on my 12GSA on a recent 1000 mile scoot round Scotand. I bought it on ebay and paid about £50 delivered (it was indistinguishable from new - smug git). New price is around £90 plus postage.

It performed really well, it's expandable, the map pocket is a little tight but does accept Michelin maps if you fold them carefully and IMO looks a bit sexier than the BM bag. Comes with a raincover which I haven't needed yet. And importantly, the base has a soft under so it didn't mark the tank and it was a doddle to remove for fillups. I'd say 9 out of 10.

Was that a GSA specific bag or are you making do with a GS one?

I use the GS one on my GSA but it touches the cross bar on the handlebars and also leaves little room on each lock when manouvering in ticht areas :nenau

I would also give a big :thumb for the Famsa tank bag. I've used in on two long European tours with no problems.

I bought mine from Caveman who I believe gives discount to site members.

Hi Shep,

It's not a GSA specific bag but it works fine for me. The switchgear does just touch the sides of the bag on full lock, but hasn't been a problem at all - no horns sounding or unwanted indictators. Only thing is, for those that have fitted pullback h'bar clamps there is a chance the bag might crowd the h'bars a little - but maybe not, so long as a cross brace isn't fitted. (I have my bars turned up and forward a little in the standard clamps). Best thing would be to try before you buy - not often possible.

The BM bag is huge and works well, so I hear, so if in doubt the best course would probably be to stick with OEM - I just don't like the look of it personally.

BM GS tank bags on a GSA

I've the same issue as Shep. While I don't think my handlebars are tilted back (based on trying other adventures) the cross bar on mine - even with the lagging taken off - significantly fouls the front of the bag - far more than I want to risk. Based on my experience of this, I'd echo the sentiments of "try before you buy" as you may end up with something which doesn't work.

Have to say the BM 12GS tankbag is more than adequate, IMHO, excellent piece of kit. Well made, and constructed, mine has survived a spill, and at £150.00, is good value and cheaper than baglux, I've had both. I can also fit enough kit in it for a weekend away. :thumb

I agree that the bag can be "fouled" when on full lock - I'm not sure I see the "risk" in that though :nenau

Tail bag instead

Have never liked tank bags - but this zip off number works a treat - fits all my work A4 stuff including a 11" screen laptop so I don;t need to carry one on my back. :thumb

I guess that when you compare that to the cost of the Baglux harness and Shibuya bag (apparently the only one that fits the Adventure, but who knows in the future?) then you are looking at sort of similar investment (I'm sure I was less than £150 though.)

The Shibuya is considerably smaller than the BMW bag, however, so the choice could boil down to what size you require.

Each is probably equally "Ebay-able" if you sell the bike :thumb

I went for the Baglux option, as I'm not a great fan of big tankbags :nono

Each to their own, though.

fair enough, but for me, anything that impedes me turning the handlebars - e.g. going crossways through stopped traffic/lanes - is more than I want to take on. Although I haven't yet done this (as the bag isn't often on the bike), this would appear to limit what I can cram into the bag if the front of the bag is to be left flexible/soft to deal with the cross bar.

Perhaps this is unique to the laid back handlebar style on my gsa.

i can't see why my old TT VP45 bag won't fit. must try it soon.

i have the bmw bag and don't use it much as it so big. it will be nice when touring i think, but could use some side pockets instead of it being just one big space with everything lumped in together.
