1200GSA Tool Kit - Advise

Is there a tool kit on the new 1200 GSA like the comprehensive 1150GSA one complete with tyre repair stuff. Should I keep the one of the 1150?

The tool kit on the 1200GSA is not as comprehensive as the 1150 GSA.

BMW claim the reduction in contents was the result of a customer survey in which the majority of owners who replied said they never used the toolkit. :blast

As the 12GS 'toolkit' was so poor, I bought a Cruz Toolkit to carry on the bike. It is a very comprehensive little toolkit with probably most of anything you'll ever need for a roadside repair.

It also means that should the bike break down, I can lay it on the seat, open it up and cry like a baby until someone comes to rescue me.

That link details a tool kit an American bod put together himself. You can buy all the bits (and more) here in the UK (and just about anywhere else).

Sorry. Should have been more clear. I was talking about the one at the bottom of the page.

I just went to BMW and bought the few tools that I needed - pretty in-expensive, even bought the BMW tool roll to go with it.

You pay £10,000 for a bike and expect it to come with a toolkit?

You'll be expecting proper after-sales service next....

Best tool is a credit card.....don't leave home (on a 1200)without it....:D

Hello and welcome from this side of the planet. :beerjug:

Is the bike new ? If so, your dealer should have supplied you with the owners manual. If the bike is a pre-owned one, the first owner may not have handed it over when he left the bike in (but as this should have any services logged in it, it is kinda important), so either the dealer should contact said previous owner or give you his details or phone number and you could enquire about it yourself.

Does it matter how much you spend???????? My car has even less of a toolkit.........and it cost a hell of a lot more.

" .....you pay £10,000 for a bike and expect it to come with a toolkit?" No
"You'll be expecting proper after-sales service next...." Yes.
If it was the other way round I would not still have a BMW
Seriously, it does rather depend on where you live and where you are going. Normally the need for any tool 'on the road' is very rare and I have never touchjed any of the toolkits which have come with the ten BMW's i have owned over 30 years. More important nowaadays is a portable telephone (that will work in whatever country you will be) and a list of dealers + recovery insurance + credit card of course.
If you are going where that is not enough then you should take expert advice.

salvage the useable tools from your 1150GSA toolkit and supplement it with the bits n bobs needed for the 1200GSA
