Well. just been for a ride of about 70 miles no probs, just been down the road
about five miles and all of a sudden problems with tick over. dosent want to speed up and trys to stall when the throttle opend in neutral. However, pull the clutch in and all is normal!, before I flog the bloody thing and make friends with my faithfull 1150 any ideas as to what this could be?, is it the onset of the dreaded coil pack probs as I cant see how the clutch would affect it?. Clutch is fine operating normally the service warning light and display have come on.
Serves me right for leaving the faithfull 1150 in the garage!, any piss taking or actual help would be appriciated!!.

Mr K!!!!!.

Never thought of that, heard so many dreadful tails about 1200's I was about
to flog it!!. Went to check the switch and I found the plug from the sensor on the side of the throttle body acording to Mr Haynes the "throttle position sensor" well the plug had come off!!!!!. Must have caught i9t with my boot anyway all now back to normal!!. Thanks for the pointer only I have become paranoid about these 1200's and thought I'd regret buying one!! still now we know!. Many thnaks.
Dave (happy now!!) GS.

I told you, now that's a pint you owe me.

Is your clutch dragging and is the slave cylinder leaking?

Well done Mr K.

Love story

My 1200!!, yes thanks for all the advice, what worried me was the fact that
the engine suymbol appeared on the display and the warning triangle came on. Thought that sounded omimous!, that lead must have been casught by my boot as the spring clip aint very secure. Just got down to look at the switch without hope and saw it flapping in the breeze!, all now ok, yes, I am sure the 1150 put the mockers on it nearly succeded as well!!. The first dropping will occur no doubt at least it will be a bit easier to pick up!.
Yes please, pints all round Paul, mines best bitter and whatever Keith wants of course, and while your at it get yourself one as well!.
Dave (I dream of 1200's) GS

You might be missing the little plastic wedge thingy which is supposed to fit under the retaining spring clip on the connector. It needs to be removed in order to release the clip so if missing it would be easier to accidentally knock it and have the connector drop off. Never seen anything like it before on similar connectors but it is there for sure on the TPS.

Okay, I'll get you and I some proper ale and I'll try and find Keith his preferred Babycham. :P

BTW. You're going to enjoy the curry if it works out the same in a field; I'm just finishing off the practise run. :thumb

That must be the prob, I wondered how that clip was supposed to work as I could not get it to work at all, cheers for the advice.

Has it got its little locking widget?
I have seen a few 1200s where these have gone missing - the widget stops you accidentally pressing in the little release bar on the connector and possibly knocking out the connector - simples :D

Oooops, just seen that this has already been explained - DOH!
